Description

Project title: Characterization of immune responses in infectious diseases to elaborate new immunotherapy and vaccine strategies

Project:

In our lab, we aim to decipher and characterize immune responses in several infectious diseases such as human immunodeficiency virus, the etiologic agent of AIDS, leishmaniasis and SARS-CoV-2. To this purpose, in our research center (the centre de recherche du CHU de Québec), we have developed different animal models to study host/pathogens interactions in combination with flow cytometry analysis including cell sorting in a biosafety level 3 (BSL-3) environment. In addition, the research center hosts various platforms at the forefront of OMICS technologies (genomics, proteomics and metabolomics), providing opportunities to explore biological data under multiple aspects.

Specifically, our research projects aim to improve treatments by immunotherapy or vaccine approaches and study the immune system cells in a comparative manner using transcriptomics and proteomics approaches. Our laboratory is involved in a Pan-Canadian project on AIDS (Cancure 2), a research collaboration focused on studying HIV persistence during antiretroviral therapy and developing strategies towards a sustainable HIV remission.

Responsibilities:

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated candidate in bioinformatics, able to integrate multi-OMICS data and perform analyses using various methodologies. The potential candidate will be in charge of developing methods and strategies to perform all analyses.

Qualifications:

The candidate should hold a M.Sc. degree in bioinformatics or a related field. Research experience in OMICS approaches and excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. The candidate must also have experience in R and Python coding. Experience in Machine learning is an asset.
