A 12-month Post-doctoral position in molecular modelling and design (Biocomputing) available at TBI-INSA, CNRS, INRA Toulouse, France

A Post-Doctoral position is available in molecular modelling and computational protein design at the Toulouse Biotechnology Institute (TBI) located on the grounds of the INSA-Toulouse (France). The laboratory is affiliated to the French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and Environment (INRAE, UMR INSA-INRAE 792) and the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS, UMR INSA-CNRS 5504).

The successful candidate will be a key member of a multidisciplinary research project that involves the Toulouse Biotechnology Institute (TBI, Toulouse, France) and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL, Colorado, USA). The project aims at designing enzymes with new cofactor specificity to develop cell-free synthetic biology systems for the production of biochemicals.

He/She will be in charge of conducting molecular modelling studies to get a better understanding of molecular determinants involved in function and cofactor interaction of key enzymes for the development of cell-free biocatalysis. The objective will then be to develop rational approaches relying on innovative artificial intelligence-based methods to redesign these enzymes to achieve the desired cofactor specificity. This work will be carried out in close collaboration with computational biologists, biochemists and enzyme engineers that will evaluate in vitro proposed enzyme designs.

We are looking for a highly motivated scientist who has research background and expertise in a number of areas of Computational Biology (Bioinformatics), including molecular modelling and simulations and experience in computational protein design would be a great plus. A biology background and a sound understanding of protein modelling and molecular interactions are required.

The researcher will have the opportunity to work in a diverse and rich multidisciplinary environment, surrounded by both computational and experimental experts in the field of enzyme catalysis, design and engineering. Applicants should enjoy teamwork and have very good communication skills.

The position is available from July 1st, 2020 and for duration of one year.
