We are currently seeking to recruit a post-doctoral researcher at the CESP research center (Centre de Recherche en Epidémiologie et Santé des populations, Villejuif, France, to work with the “Exposome and Heredity” team in collaboration with the LMA (Laboratory of Mathematics and its Applications, UMR CNRS 5142, Anglet, France,
The aim of the AMLAP (Advanced Machine Learning Algorithms for leveraging Pleiotropy effect) project, funded by the “ITMO Cancer d’Aviesan”, is to boost and enhance novel statistical methods to detect pleiotropy in human complex traits. More particularly, this project aims to develop novel big data analytics methods for leveraging pleiotropy using specific data structures (gene or pathway-level) and to apply these to large cancer genomic datasets. Exploring the genetic relationship between cancers would help to elucidate the common mechanisms between those diseases and could lead to improve their diagnostic and therapeutic management.
The role of the selected candidate is to participate to the validation of the new methods and to apply these to existing datasets to better understand the etiology of cancers. The selected candidate will work in a cross disciplinary research team with expertise in biostatistics, genetic epidemiology and bioinformatics.

- Data management and data enrichment with online databases
- Statistical analysis and interpretation of the results
- Writing of scientific publications and reports (and participation to potential follow-up grant applications)
- Presentation of study results at national or international scientific conferences

Profile requirements
- The applicant should have a PhD in Genetic Epidemiology, Biostatistics or Bioinformatics.
- Good programming skills in R or Python.
- Experience in the computational analysis of omics and work in Unix environment will be an asset.
- Good communication skills and interest in working in a cross-disciplinary team
