Post-doctorant in Bioinformatics – 1-year fixed-term contract renewable for 2 years, Paris Cordeliers Research Center, Inserm UMRS1138 FunGeST team

POSITION SUMMARY

The team "Functional Genomics of Solid Tumors" FunGeST (Inserm UMRS1138, University of Paris, Sorbonne University), led by Professor Jessica Zucman-Rossi, is located at the Cordeliers Research Center in the 6th district of Paris and is recruiting on a fixed-term contract (12 months, renewable for a further 24 months), a post-doctorant in Bioinformatics to identify predictive markers of response to treatment in primary liver cancer.

The position is available from December 2022

PRESENTATION OF THE DIRECTION/HOST STRUCTURE OF THE POSITION

The team "Functional Genomics of Solid Tumors, FunGeST" led by Pr Zucman-Rossi is an international leader in the field of genomics of liver, mesothelioma and virus-induced tumors. http://zucmanlab.com/

The Cordelier Research Center (CRC) has an international reputation, with 17 research teams and 4 technological platforms. The CRC's main trustees are INSERM, Sorbonne University and the University of Paris. Research projects are mainly focused on the study of mechanisms involved in cancer, immunology, metabolism and pathophysiology. https://www.crcordeliers.fr/

RESEARCH PROJECT

The goal of the project is to predict the response to systemic treatments of primary liver cancer by performing a dynamic multimodal analysis of the tumors (immunogenomics, histology, radiology). Whole genome sequencing, RNAseq, RRBS, single cell, spatial transcriptomics data will be generated in the laboratory and analyzed in this project.

MISSION AND ACTIVITIES

  • Develop innovative bioinformatics and data analysis tools for the integration of genomic, biological and clinical data
  • Develop the research project and new tools necessary to understand tumor heterogeneity and its link with the response to treatment
  • Collaborate with the team's biologists and bioinformaticians
  • Participate in weekly laboratory meetings, disseminate and valorize the results in the form of reports, oral presentations, writing articles
  • Participate each year in international scientific meetings in the field

SUPERVISION

The engineer will work under the supervision of Sandra Rebouissou (Inserm researcher) and Jean-Charles Nault (Professor at the University of Paris Nord), scientific leaders of the projects, with the support of the CRC bioinformatics platform (Aurélien de Reyniès).

REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Have skills in statistics and genomics, mastery of programming languages R, Perl, Python, (java and sql would be an advantage)
  • Collection, processing and analysis of large-scale genomic data: whole-exome, RNAseq/single-cell RNAseq, methylome
  • Ability to interact with people from different backgrounds and interests (biology, bioinformatics, etc.)
  • Be autonomous to develop a research project and know how to work in a team
  • Maintain a scientific and technological survey in his/her field of expertise
  • Written and spoken English

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

PhD in biology or bioinformatics
