We are co-convener of the Access to COVID-19 Tools (ACT) Accelerator diagnostics pillar, and a WHO Collaborating Centre for Laboratory Strengthening and Diagnostic Technology Evaluation.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Your Mission
Business Intelligence (BI) at FIND is a cross-cutting activity that spans across all of FIND disease programs within the organization, and aims at supporting the R&D and Access pillars, as well as other support departments such as communication, operations, etc. The BI team supports FIND’s strategic activities that require a high-level of coordination and an efficient management of data on diagnostic products/tools, companies, and partners. FIND has built a comprehensive technology database (COVID-19 Test Directory , Monkeypox Test Directory) that aims at informing the community and key stakeholders about assay features, performance, stage of development, regulatory status, etc. With thousands of tests listed, such a database requires a high degree of maintenance and quality control to ensure that the most updated and accurate data are shared. The Technology Associate/Officer will work closely with the Business Intelligence and the Data science team at FIND to develop and improve the current management of technology data at FIND.

Your responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include the support of the BI and Data science teams. Your key activities will include:
 Support with the review of new technology submissions in FIND’s technology database
 Gathering of external data from company web pages, press releases and other sources (e.g. product inserts, instructions for use, website and contact information). Use of web scraping and parsing techniques to automate the process will be of utmost importance
 Assessing and resolving the completeness and accuracy of the database through benchmarking and sense-checking data with the use of dashboards and reports
 Support with the management of data standards including quality control of new data entering the database
 Support collection and review of technology data for several disease programmes at FIND and collaborate closely with other units such as Communication, Data science, Regulatory affairs
 As needed, support general scouting for new technologies or landscaping work
 

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:

Required Qualifications
• Advanced studies in data science/biology/bioinformatics or a related field from a recognized academic institution
• At least 3-5 years of experience in data science/in-vitro diagnostics or a related interdisciplinary field
• High level of knowledge in laboratory technology, biomedical and/or in-vitro diagnostics
• Experience or strong interest in management of databases, particularly containing information on IVD technologies and/or medical devices.
• Understanding of global health, relevant infectious diseases and related public health is beneficial
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication and superior problem-solving skills
• Team player comfortable working in a multicultural environment
• Attention to detail
• Proven experience with Salesforce (highly desirable), R (desirable), python (desirable), Power BI (desirable – not required)
• Competencies in Microsoft Office (Excel)
• Fluent in English (verbal and written)
