Description

We are looking for a bioinformatics intern (M1/M2) to participate in studying the evolution of cancers at a single-cell level by utilising the power of computational tools and new data. The intern will have the unique opportunity to work in the internationally renowned Institut Curie, in the heart of Paris, and collaborate with the students and researchers at our research centre.

About us

Chunlong Chen’s lab at Institut Curie (https://institut-curie.org/team/chen) is a well-established team composed of both wet-lab biologists and bioinformaticians, focusing on the DNA replication programme and genomic instability. The team bridges the gap between computational and experimental biology to study the dynamics of the human genome, understand the DNA replication programme and how its deregulation leads to diseases such as cancer. The team creates and maintains bioinformatics tools (https://github.com/CL-CHEN-Lab) and collaborates with scientists in France, Europe and internationally. Ongoing projects include studies of the replication programme at the single-molecule (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.molcel.2021.05.024) and single-cell levels (https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-022-30043-x), replication-transcription conflicts (https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-020-17858-2) and oestrogen-related impacts on breast cancer.

About you

You have a background in bioinformatics and an interest in solving scientific questions around genomics with your computational skills and scientific methodology. You are willing to learn, use new methods and are motivated to constantly expand your skills. You have good coding and data organisation practices that enable reproducible research. You are comfortable at the command line, running scripts, debugging and you would like to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team.

The position is based at the research centre of Institut Curie, in the UMR3244 unit (CNRS/Sorbonne University/Institut Curie) in Paris. The shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview. To apply, send your CV along with a motivation letter to Chunlong CHEN (Chunlong.Chen@curie.fr).
