Description

The Department of Computational and Quantitative Biology (LCQB) at the
prestigious Sorbonne Université, located in the heart of Paris, France, is on the
lookout for a new director set to start January 1, 2025. This position is for a five-
year term, with the possibility of renewal.

Currently under the leadership of Alessandra Carbone, LCQB is an expanding
interdisciplinary unit standing at the crossroads of biology and quantitative
sciences. It is one of the five Departments of the Institute of Biology Paris-Seine.
Since its inception in 2009, LCQB's primary goal has been to foster biology
research through the integration of theoretical and experimental methodologies.
In 2025, the department will comprise six theoretical and computational teams,
and eight experimental teams, six focusing in various aspects of quantitative
biology and two in synthetic biology, collectively bringing together over 90
members, encompassing doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers.

We are searching for an internationally recognized scientist, with a profound
theoretical background and a dedicated approach to integrating experimental
and computational/theoretical methods in biology. Previous experience in
departmental leadership will be greatly valued. For candidates who do not
currently have a permanent position in France, arrangements for a position at
Sorbonne Université or CNRS can be made. Ideal candidates should have research
interests that align with and expand upon the existing themes within LCQB. The
incoming director will also have the opportunity to join LCQB before the official
start date and establish their own research team in this collaborative and cutting-
edge environment.

Embrace this opportunity to shape the future of biological research and apply
your vision at the LCQB! For information, please contact the current director
Alessandra Carbone (alessandra.carbone@sorbonne-universite.fr) and/or the
deputy directors Gilles Fischer (gilles.fischer@sorbonne-universite.fr) and Martin
Weigt (martin.weigt@sorbonne-universite.fr).
