Computational Biology Hybrid AI modeling Organoids Digital Twins

Description

The Systems Biomedicine group led by Anaïs Baudot in the Marseille Medical Genetics Unit (MMG, Inserm – Aix*Marseille University) has an opening for two postdoctoral fellows. Our interdisciplinary team develops numeric approaches with expertise in multi-omics and multi-modal data integration, network and knowledge graphs, and application to rare genetic diseases (https://www.marseille-medical-genetics.org/en/a-baudot/).

These positions aim to contribute to an ambitious project focused on developing digital twins of organoids. Organoids are in-vitro 3D models of organs and tissues that capture key properties of their physiological counterparts. Digital twins will allow us to simulate and predict organoid behavior, combining experimental data with computational modeling to create powerful new tools for biomedical research.

  • PostDoc position 1 will focus on developing resources (curation, standardization, formalization of organoid culture protocols) and strategies for leveraging these resources in data analysis (e.g., knowledge-primed neural networks).

  • PostDoc position 2 will focus on developing multiscale modeling strategies combining generative AI and mechanistic modeling (e.g., Boolean modeling of gene regulatory networks, inference of cell-cell communication networks) to obtain a 3D virtual representation of an organoid.

Qualifications
• PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Sciences, AI/Machine Learning, Applied Mathematics, Biophysics, or related fields
• Experience in biological or clinical data analysis, development of bioinformatics workflows and packages
• Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in bioinformatics (Python, Bash, …) and Linux environment
• Strong communication (oral) and reporting (written) skills
• Flexibility and adaptability to work in a multidisciplinary environment on multiple research axes and in collaboration
• Fluency in English

What we offer
Fully funded position for 18 months (renewable) in Marseille, France. The salary will be based on experi-ence. Starting date Autumn 2025. The MMG Unit is in the La Timone faculty of Medicine campus and is a leader in the field of rare genetic diseases.
