Revenir à la liste des offres d'emplois Developing a protein annotation server for functional exploration of marine genomes Stage · Stage M2 · 6 mois Bac+5 / Master Station biologique de Roscoff, équipe ECOMAP · Roscoff (France) Date de prise de poste : 12 janvier 2026 Mots-Clés Protein Functional Annotation, Marine (Meta)Genomics, Web Development Comparative Genomics Description Context: The ever-increasing number of genomic and metagenomic data presents an unprecedented opportunity to understand the functional diversity of marine organisms. However, practical exploration of such data is often limited by the lack of comprehensive and user-friendly tools for protein annotation. In this project, we shall develop a robust and efficient web-based server to explore the functional annotation of proteins from marine genomes. Description: We are seeking a highly motivated Master 2 student with a strong background in bioinformatics and web development to design and implement a novel protein annotation server. This server will enable researchers to upload protein sequences from marine organisms and obtain detailed functional predictions, including InterPro domains, Gene Ontology (GO) terms, Enzyme Commission (EC) numbers, and metabolic pathways, among other information. The intern will be responsible for the full development cycle, from conceptualization and technology selection to implementation, testing, and documentation. The successful candidate will contribute to a cutting-edge research environment focused on marine biodiversity and its applications. Required Skills and Qualifications: Experience in Bioinformatics: Solid understanding of fundamental bioinformatics concepts, algorithms, and common tools (e.g., sequence alignment, motif discovery, phylogenetic analysis). Familiarity with concepts and tools used in comparative genomics. Web Development: Back-end: experience with at least one server-side programming language (e.g., Python (Flask/Django), Ruby on Rails, Node.js). Front-end: Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and relevant frameworks/libraries (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js). Database: Experience with relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and/or NoSQL databases. Programming Skills: Excellent programming skills in Python is highly desirable. Linux/Unix Environment: Comfortable working in a Linux/Unix command-line environment. Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical skills. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
