A full-time bio-informatics/bio-analysis position at the level of post-doctorate or research assistant (“engineer”; IR), is available in the « Pathogenesis of Inflammatory Diseases » team of the IGBMC, Strasbourg, France. Dysregulated immune responses lead to inflammation involved in the development of allergies, autoimmune disorders and cancers. The lab is interested in deciphering dendritic cell (DC) -T cell axes implicated in different inflammatory pathologies. In homeostatic and inflammatory conditions, specific DC subsets migrate into draining lymph nodes to present antigen and prime effector (Teff) or regulatory T cells (Treg), which are vital to generate proinflammatory or tolerogenic responses. Intriguingly, common immune axes are shared in different contexts of inflammatory diseases and cancers, however with distinct functional impacts. As an example, tolerogenic responses prevent autoimmunity but foster the immune escape of tumor cells.
Recent studies in the team aimed to decipher DC-T cell axes, by combining multi-omics studies (bulk and single-cell RNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics), with advanced mouse models for skin inflammation, melanoma and non-melanoma cancers, as well as human disease biopsy studies. We urgently need extensive data mining and bioinformatic analyses related to the newly identified tolerogenic or proinflammatory DC and T cell subpopulations, to identify their tissue distribution/localization/cell-cell interaction, across different inflammatory diseases and various cancer types, from mouse to human, and to further delineate cellular crosstalk and molecular signaling in the immune networks to elucidate functional importance.
The study is expected to bring novel insights to immune responses and immunotherapy, and to identify new therapeutic targets for inflammatory diseases and cancers.

Scientific environment
The Institute of Genetics and Molecular and Cellular Biology (IGBMC) is the largest research unit in France and one of the main European biomedical research centers. The goal of IGBMC is to develop interdisciplinary research at the interface of biology and medicine, and to attract researchers from around the world by offering high-level education in the biomedical sciences. The IGBMC campus, located on the “Parc d’Innovation d’Illkirch” in the Strasbourg suburbs, is an exceptional scientific, academic and industrial environment that favors interdisciplinary collaborations and technology transfer. The working language is English.
The institute provides access to state-of-the-art infrastructure and platforms, including next-generation sequencing, mouse genetic modification and phenotyping, animal faculties, flow cytometry, imaging, high-throughput screening, etc.
The candidate is expected to have excellent communication skills, and will present the work in lab meetings, joint meetings and internal seminars at IGBMC, and scientific congresses. The candidate will be directly supervised by the PI and is expected to collaborate with researchers in the team, with GenomEast platform at IGBMC, and national and international research/clinical collaborators.

Required skills

The candidate should have extensive expertise in bioinformatic analyses of multi-omics data, particularly single cell RNAse and spatial transcriptomics.
Advanced experience in data mining, analysis and visualisation with R and Python.
The experience with studies in immunity/inflammation or oncology will be will be valued as an asset.

Applicant profile
The candidate should hold a PhD degree or an engineer diploma in immunology, oncology and/or bio-informatics.

Contract
We offer a 24-months position, with a possibility to be extended.
The salary follows the INSERM grid based on experience.
Starting date: Dec. 2025/Jan. 2026.
