Job Description
The Head of Bioinformatics leads the GutPrint® team responsible for delivering and analyzing gut microbiota characterization data. This role ensures high quality data generation aligned with business needs from clinical, CMC and scientific teams. Responsibilities include oversight of sequencing workflows, high throughput bioinformatics pipelines, data delivery, and scientific interpretation.
Your Main Responsibilities
• Work closely with cross-functional counterparts and the CSO to understand microbiota analysis needs and timelines ;
• Ensure bioinformatics pipelines and analyses are high quality and appropriate for business needs ;
• Manage the flow of analysis projects within the Operating Platform, from sequencing to data delivery ;
• Lead, supervise and support the bioinformatics team, ensuring appropriate task distribution, workload balance and high‑quality output ;
• Supervise subcontractors performing analyses ;
• Conduct complex analyses, interpret scientific results, and guide the team’s analytical work ;
• Contribute to the design, development and GxP validation of GutPrint® tools with the Bioinformatics Developer and QA ;
• Participate in scientific communications and patent preparation ;
• Maintain scientific expertise in bioinformatics, NGS sequencing and microbiome analysis technologies.
Qualifications and Experience
• PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, microbial ecology or related field ;
• 5+ years of experience in a pharma/biotech setting, contributing to sequencing based analyses and data interpretation within drug development programs
• Leadership in a bioinformatics function, including direct line management responsibilities, with the ability to supervise, support and develop team members ;
• Experience managing end to end analysis workflow ;
• Hands on expertise in microbiome data analysis ;
• Proven ability to collaborate in cross functional settings
• Experience with regulated or quality driven environments, including GxP expectations for pipeline validation ;
• Experience in late stage clinical development is a plus ;
• Experience with large scale human microbiome analyses is a plus ;
• Experience in microbiome therapeutics development is a plus ;
• Fluency in English.
