Description

Location: Lille, France
Institution: EGID (European Genomic Institute for Diabetes), INSERM, University of Lille
Research unit: METAB-OMICS (UMR1283 / U8199)
Supervisor: Dr Amna Khamis
Funding: EFSD / Novo Nordisk Foundation
Start date: April 2026

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to lead an exciting research project funded by the EFSD / Novo Nordisk Foundation. The successful candidate will have expertise in bioinformatics, biostatistics, multi-omics integration, and/or epigenomics.

The project investigates epigenetic regulation in human pancreatic islets and key metabolic tissues, leveraging state-of-the-art DNA methylation, transcriptomic, and genetic datasets. The postdoctoral researcher will play a central role in developing and applying integrative biostatistical pipelines to identify functional (epi)genetic regulators of type 2 diabetes risk and progression. This work is anchored in deeply phenotyped human cohorts and offers a unique opportunity to work with high-resolution, multi-omic data in a translational research environment.

Responsibilities
• To lead statistical analysis and plan development of large-scale methylation, RNA-seq, ATAC-seq and genotype datasets, and multi-tissue integration analyses
• Develop predictive methylation and polygenic risk scores
• Contribute to scientific publications and international collaborations
• Provide supervision to junior researchers working on related or adjacent projects

Profile
• PhD in bioinformatics, biostatistics, computational biology, or a related quantitative field
• Strong proficiency in R and experience with large-scale multi-omic data analysis pipelines
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team
• Excellent communication skills
• Fluent in English (spoken and written)

About us
The postdoctoral researcher will join the epigenomics group led by Dr Amna Khamis, based at Inserm U1283 (METAB-OMICS) within the European Genomic Institute for Diabetes (EGID) in Lille. EGID is a centre of excellence recognised through the French Laboratory of Excellence (LabEx) initiative and is directed by Philippe Froguel.

The successful candidate will work in a highly interdisciplinary and international research environment, interacting closely with experts in bioinformatics, biostatistics, epigenetics, transcriptomics, and functional biology, including collaborations with teams led by Amélie Bonnefond (DR, Inserm).
