Research engineer position (Ingénieur d’Études)

Systems Biomedicine group – Marseille Medical Genetics (MMG), Marseille, France

Context
The Systems Biomedicine group, led by Anaïs Baudot at the Marseille Medical Genetics unit (MMG, Inserm – Aix-Marseille University) has an opening for a bioinformatician / computational biologist. The main goal of our team is to develop computational approaches to better understand human diseases.
Project and missions
The position combines methodological developments and biomedical applications, together with the maintenance of the team’s computing server. On the development side, the successful applicant will design and implement bioinformatics tools and software based on graph theory, dimensionality reduction and machine learning. On the application side, they will apply these methods to rare diseases, analyzing a wide range of -omics data in close interaction with biologists and clinicians.

Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science or a related field
• Manipulation and analysis of biological -omics data
• Programming (R, Python, bash…) and Linux environment
• Development of bioinformatics workflows and packages; Algorithm implementation
• Flexibility and adaptability to work in a multidisciplinary environment, on multiple projects and in collaboration with diverse scientists
• Good communication and reporting skills
• Good command of English (working language of the team)

• Salary based on experience, following the Aix*Marseille Université salary scale
