 CDD · Ingénieur autre  · 12 mois    Bac+5 / Master   IRCAN · Nice (France)

Date de prise de poste : 4 janvier 2027

Mots-Clés

Long-read sequencing transcriptomics

Description

Work environment:
The recruited bioinformatician will join the “Telomeres, Senescence and Cancer” team led by Prof. Eric Gilson at IRCAN in Nice. The team has internationally recognized expertise in telomere biology, genome stability, ageing and cancer.

Research project: Genome maintenance during aging
The Engineer will focus on the analysis of high-throughput sequencing data generated in ongoing projects investigating genome organization, genome stability and ageing.
The main activities will include the analysis of Oxford Nanopore long-read sequencing data, including genome-wide analyses and the identification and characterization of structural genomic features with particular attention to repetitive pericentromeric genomic regions. The bioinformatician will also match these structural variations to lncRNA-seq/transcriptomic datasets, including transcript identification, quantification of non-coding RNAs from repetitive genomic regions and chromosomal context effects.
The recruited person will contribute to the development and optimization of pipelines, integration of different sequencing datasets, and interpretation and presentation of results to the team.

Required skills
• At least Master’s degree (Bac+5) or equivalent training in bioinformatics, computational biology, genomics or a related field.
• Good knowledge of eukaryotic genomics and transcriptomics.
• Strong experience with Linux/Unix environments.
• Programming skills in Python and/or R.
• Experience in the analysis of long-read sequencing data, particularly Oxford Nanopore data, is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of commonly used genomic and transcriptomic tools and databases.
• Ability to develop, document and maintain reproducible bioinformatic pipelines.
• Good organizational and communication skills, with the ability to present and discuss scientific results with multidisciplinary teams.
