Be a force for good and transform your potential into something extraordinary.
As a Bioinformatics Intern within the Bioinformatics & Data Analytics group at Nestlé Research,
your mission will be to contribute to the development of an advanced yeast genome annotation
pipeline by integrating gene expression data to improve gene prediction accuracy.
You will help develop automated solutions to process genomic data and integrate annotated yeast
genomes into a local genome database and genome browser. Working closely with microbiologists
and genomics scientists, you will translate biological requirements into reproducible bioinformatics
solutions while gaining hands-on experience in yeast genomics, gene expression analysis, and
pipeline development.
How you’ll make an impact as a Bioinformatics Intern
• Review scientific literature and evaluate bioinformatics software for integrating gene expression
data into a yeast genome annotation pipeline
• Develop and improve scripts and workflows to automate genomic data processing and genome
annotation
• Integrate annotated yeast genomes into a local genome database and genome browser to
support visualization and downstream analysis
• Document code, workflows and results to ensure traceability, reproducibility and effective
knowledge transfer
• Collaborate with microbiologists and genomics scientists to translate biological requirements
into technical solutions and present your progress and results
What will make you successful
• Student or recent graduate from a Bachelor or Master in Bioinformatics, Computational
Biology, Genomics, Biology or a related field, with good knowledge of genomics and strong
exposure to bioinformatics
• Understanding of Next-Generation Sequencing technologies and their application to genomic
or transcriptomic data analysis
• Good programming and scripting skills using Python, R or Bash, experience using a Unix or
Linux environment is a strong advantage
• First exposure to workflow and command-line tools such as Nextflow or Awk is an advantage,
combined with an interest in developing automated and reproducible bioinformatics pipelines
• Basic knowledge of code version control (Git)
• Strong analytical, communication, collaboration and learning skills
• Fluency in English; knowledge of French is an advantage
