Are you enthusiastic about omics data analysis in a plant breeding environment ?
Then this job might be for you !

Your key responsibilities
• You analyse different kinds of omics data on our different crops
• You develop tools, pipelines and software to support plant and molecular breeders in the analysis and interpretation of their data
• You optimize existing tools developed by your colleagues and yourself
• You contribute to the construction of pangenomes for our different crops
• You provide advice to your colleagues on the experiments and the data that need to be generated for answering their research question
• You participate to external and internal projects related to your field of expertise
• You keep up-to-date with findings from academia, and other sources through literature search, and participation to conferences

Your profile:
• You have an education in bioinformatics (MSc or PhD), or equivalent through experience.
• You have a good understanding of plant genetics
• You have extensive experience in scripting and pipeline development using programming languages, such as Python, R, C++
• You are developing pipelines using git and/or nextflow
• You have experience with azure cloud computing
• You are an independent worker who takes initiative, is a good listener, and has a very good eye for details.
• You are an excellent team player with good communication skills in English, both spoken and written.
• Additional knowledge of French and/or Dutch is a plus.
• Experience with the analysis of long read sequencing data, building of databases, and machine learning is a plus

This position is preferentially located in Tienen, Belgium.
