Description

Global HLA reference datasets remain biased toward European populations, impacting precise imputation in underrepresented regions like subsaharan Africa and south America. This project is a population and Malaria association study of HLA (Human Leukocyte Antigen) genes in six West African ethnic groups in Benin, and it will also examine their impact on HLA imputation for African populations. The project is a collaboration between French and Brazilian researchers and is part of two major initiatives: the international SNP-HLA Reference Consortium (SHLARC) and the CAPES-COFECUB Me 1044/24 action. It addresses global disparities in genomic resources.
